This blog is to introduce the city of Korea. Today is the beginning of the story about Incheon Metropolitan City.
This is the introduction of Incheon.
First of all, this is a rough introduction to Incheon.
It is a metropolitan city of Korea and a foreign port of Seoul, the capital city. Seoul, which has no ports, mainly uses the Incheon Port. It is located in northwestern South Korea and in the midwestern part of the Korean Peninsula. It is the second port city in Korea after Busan and the largest coastal city in the metropolitan area.
This is Incheon's introduction to the location.
Incheon's mathematical location is approximately 126°37 ′E and 37°28 ′N, which is in the middle of the Korean Peninsula, bordering on the west coast of the Republic of Korea, and at the western end of the Han River. Located 28 km away from Seoul, the capital of the Republic of Korea, Incheon is located at a similar latitude to San Francisco, Washington d.c, and southern Spain.
This is Incheon's introduction to the climate.
Incheon belongs to a continental climate, but it is located on the coast, so it has some characteristics of an oceanic climate compared to other inland regions, so the annual temperature difference is smaller. The annual average temperature is 12.5℃, and the record for the highest daily temperature is 38.9℃ and the record for the lowest daily temperature is -21.0℃. (Based on Celsius) The amount of precipitation is 1,134.4 mm per year, which is less than that of similar latitude areas. Yellow dust phenomena are more frequent and continue to appear longer than other regions, and the frequency of fog in Incheon is higher than that of inland areas. The number of fog days in April starts to increase, the most in May and June, and decreases sharply from August. The number of fog days in 2021 in Incheon is 50 days.
This is Incheon's introduction to the area.
Incheon was promoted to a city under its direct control on July 1, 1981, and on January 1, 1989, Gyeyang-myeon (30.9 km²) in Gimpo-gun and Yeongjong and Yongyu-myeon (72.0 km²) in Ongjin-gun became 310.83 km². On March 1, 1995, the name was changed to a metropolitan city, and on March 1 of the same year, Ganghwa-gun (401.3 km²), Ongjin-gun (163.6 km²), and Geomdan-myeon (42.2 km²) in Gimpo-gun became 955 km². Since 2000, the area has been expanded to 994.12 km², 1% of the total land area, and as of December 31, 2022, it has reached 1,067.04 km². A large amount of land has become very large due to large-scale reclamation projects and administrative district changes.
That was the introduction to Incheon. In the next post, I will introduce Incheon in more detail.
